Cold day, Hot Oven

It was minus 106 today, so it seemed like a day for the oven.

Light Wheat Boule, great taste, still not puffin' enough. Dough is too wet. Will fix on next batch.

Pizza Attempt II, this time with Olive oil rapid pizza dough and not the ready-made bread dough. World of improvement. This batch came out of the freezer after a day's thaw and was stretchy & resiliantm, ready for tossin'! Pizza came out thin enough to shave with. If only I could upgrade our oven to coal or 900 degrees! I'd burn up some 2 minute NY style pies like mad.

Pizza Test - Part 1

Bread book fever has taken a strong hold. Scott and I made pies for dinner. Though we mixed up their pizza dough (which I'll post on request), we couldn't wait for it to raise and used 2 lumps of our fridge Master Dough and went to town. Surprisingly easy to shape & toss. Cooked at 500 on unglazed floor tiles.

Here's the pre-cooked pie:

Tasted very good, slightly breadier than we'd want all the time. All sizzly:
Pie #2 was a White Pizza Parm/Feta/Mozz affair with Garlic Oil. Very good.

Feliz Navidad

So many Domo! Thanks to Alexis & Kevin for a fun Mexi-Sunday of which startlingly few pics were taken. Next time!

Craftiness

So in between breads one has to keep busy right?

Enter feeble attempts at shaky-handed Sumi-E painting:
Guess what YOU are getting for xmas! haha. Index cards, while practical & cheap, don't make the ink look all soaky & artsy. Those are art words right?

To buoy that near failure, I completed the last of my backlogged tiny Gundam robots hidden in the attic, FEAR HIM!

Monday Boule

Starting the week off right. Tweaked dough/raising times for more puff.
